About Barpali Handloom
Barpali is one of the important Sambalpuri weaving clusters in western Odisha, especially known for its Bandha or Ikat weaving traditions. In Sambalpuri Ikat, yarns are tie-dyed before weaving, allowing motifs to appear organically on the loom with characteristic feathered edges unique to authentic handmade Ikat textiles.
The craft is closely associated with Odisha’s Bhulia weaving community and continues to represent one of India’s most respected handloom traditions.
