Our weaver’s story
My father and forefathers have been weaving this technique. I grew up watching them and learning from them. My wish is to create more creative fabrics and leave my mark. With this skill, I want to earn for my family and give them a better life. I hope one day people remember me as a good artisan.

Akula Nandi
I live in Maniabandha village. I’ve been weaving since I was a child and I truly love what I do. After marriage, I settled here and now I help my husband with weaving. My husband supports me with the bandha work. I'm happy that I can support my family financially too. These days, I'm very happy to weave for NAVIRA.

Aparna
I’ve been weaving since childhood. I’ve travelled and seen weaving styles from other states and modern trends too. I’m connected with fashion colleges and I help students bring their ideas to life through weaving. I feel proud to be an artisan of Ikat — it's a very intricate and old heritage craft, and I’m happy to be part of its reimagination.
